Back to school!!

The kids took all the ornaments off the tree :)
While I took down ALL the rest of the decorations
This is what Gerri made for Christmas - it looks just like the Reece's Rainbow logo!!!

It was SO hard to get everyone up and going this morning!! We have had a lazy 2 weeks off :)
But both kids were excited to see their friends and teacher and tell everyone about their vacation.
Gerri was NOT happy to be back in her chair after 2 weeks of not using it at all.
We are still waiting on her seat and forearm attachments for the walker before she can use it solely at school.

Dan and I worked on a hillbilly shoe lift for Gerri - it took most of the day to figure out how to best do it - Dan really enjoyed it!
The finished product
The holes were to take some weight off
Gerri was VERY excited to have her shoes on again!! And the extra height was good too!!

I have been emailing with an ortho Dr in Philly to see if he will evaluate Gerri. He emailed me back this am and said yes!! He has LOTS of experience with arthro kids and specializes in lower limbs! We actually met him at the AMC convention this summer in Orlando. Once we have an appt Gerri and I will fly up for a full day of xrays and meetings!! We can not wait!!!

Hi Nan,
I have been following your blog for a while now and I'm so excited that you may be coming to Philly! I live about 2 minutes from the airport and I would love to be your tour guide. I am assuming you are going to Shriners so if you would like a ride please let me know. I promise I am not a random creepy person. I am not sure if you know Tammy E. she is another Reeces Rainbow mom and she has two little ones with artho and they come to philly every other week for treatment and I am their tour guide too :-)

You might be interested on checking this site for custom built lifts. We live in Texas and we have an orthopedic hospital in Dallas that does all kind of treatments and orthotics for free to TX residents, hope you had one like that in FL.

Here is the link to the lift place:

Is Gerri going to have a lenghtening on her left leg?. Dr Dror Paley in Maryland is suppossed to be the top Dr in lenghtenings in the USA, but not sure if he sees arthro kids too, but you might want to check it out.
