Camping with the Cub Scouts!

This weekend was a cub scout camping weekend and Gerri's first time camping!!
Warning! lots of pics!

The kids had a great day at school!!
Gerri wouldn't eat her pizza, both teachers tried to get her to eat and she told them "NO". When I got there I explained to her that that was disrespectful and she needed to sit and eat like all the other kids in her class. We sat and watched her eat half of her pizza. She was not happy with me :)
She got away with a lot in the orphanage. She is a slow eater and would not eat if given a choice.
She eats well for us, but was testing the teachers.
Danny was happy to get picked up early so we could go camping!!
Here is our campsite Friday afternoon!

Having so much fun rolling around!!

Just enough room inside!!

Serious with their new coloring/activity books

A huge moth we found:

Chilling out on the chairs while waiting for everyone else to come from work and school

Dan tuckered out and fighting a muscle strain

Part of camp life - clean up

The cook house and Victoria throwing trash away

Gerri doing her part to clean up!

Ms Donna came with Riley and a baby!! BIG HIT!!

After setting up camps a couple of families headed out to dinner!

Loving her spaghetti!

A table full of friends!

Friday nights camp fire!!

Geri just loved it all!

Danny and his best cub scout buddy Connor!!

Sound asleep at 9:00, way late for them, but we couldn't stay up long enough for s'mores :(

It was a LONG night!! Every time the kids moved we heard the plastic scratch against the tent floor.  The train tracks were nearby and there was a lot of activity!! One train went through at 12:30 blowing his horn the whole time and waking everyone up!  Danny stood straight up, scared!
Victoria climbed in with us around 2:00 saying she was scared.

Saturday morning playing around

The breakfast burrito assembly line

Mr Randy shows us how to cook lots of eggs:

Dan doing cleanup duty

Danny took Gerri for a spin to catch bugs

Ms Marianne talking to the den about poisonous plants

The whole pack heading out for a hike and games

Volleyball

The girls wandering around - too little to play with the boys

woo hoo a playground!

sister love:

Tug-a-war!

After the kids did it, the dads had to do it!

Some soccer relays
The kids and adults were kept very busy all day!! Lots of gatorade was drunk!

Lunch of hot dogs and chips!

Danny's den went for a hike from 1-3. As soon as they left Dan & I packed up our site. We decided that we had enough of no sleep and dirt!  Victoria finally gave into her nap and slept from 2-3.

Girl time :)

Danny took some lessons on how to start the camp fire!

The girls looking at caterpillars (the building to the right is the showers and bathrooms)

A really cool experiment of dropping mentos into Diet Coke!!

After a dinner of hot dogs, hamburgers, pickles, coleslaw, and potato salad we said our goodbyes and headed home (10 minutes away). We had Danny and Gerri ride around in the Jeep while Victoria rode her bike so we could empty the vehicles. I ran inside and jumped into the shower while Dan watched the kids ride around. As soon as I washed off the layers of dirt I started the tub.
The kids loved getting undressed in the garage and running to the bath.
I washed the bed sheets on Friday so I only had to make the beds while they got clean. By the time Danny finished and got his clean pj's on the bath water was black!!
It was already after 8 by then, so we had everyone head upstairs to bed.
We did not hear another peep till 7:00 am!!
Today will be a quiet day, some shopping and camp gear cleanup.
The next cub scout camping trip isn't until September so it will be interesting to see how much bigger everyone is by then!! All the kids were so great about Gerri being different! Some questions, but they completely  accepted her!! She just loved being around so much activity, the fire, the tent, all the kids running around and playing. It will be so cool when she is mobile!!

Boy does that look like fun!

Really.

It's so pretty where you live.

The kids keep you young, don't they!

Although, you may not have felt too young after sleeping on that blow up mattress!

You're brave! I like camping if I get to sleep in an RV! :)

It's so heart-warming to see Gerri enjoying all of the family activities.

This was a perfect weekend to spend with family and friends. Connor is still talking about it and how much fun he had. He wants to go back again. Great pictures.
